Enough

When your boyfriend snaps at you
Finally says enough is enough
Rolls over, turns his shoulder
With a grumpy little huff,
Do you think that love might be tough?
Do you think that it’s worth holding on to
When cohabitation could be so rough?
Every little thing sometimes
Is met with a face so gruff
But even as he huffs and sighs,
He hopes he is enough for you.
Even as he puffs and cries,
He hopes he is enough.

I saved hamentashen for you in the freezer.
Sure hope they’re up to snuff.

Even as life jabs and bites at me
And pulls me by the scruff,
I hope this is enough.
I hope we are enough.
